Meet the Face Behind Sonwil Finance Team

I’m Wilson DSouza, the proud owner of SonWil Finance Team.

I’m excited to share my story and I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I started my career selling cars at BMW and Mercedes Benz – an experience that shaped the early years of my career. However, after progressing, I wanted to follow my passion of spreading happiness, as I’ve always believed in a vision to make Canadians prosper.

I was tired of seeing people become homeless, because of poor financial decisions they made early on in life when they didn’t have the wisdom to know better. I wanted to guide and protect this group of people, so in 2008, I became a mortgage broker.

Over the past eleven years, while I have assisted several clients, I have also witnessed a number of changes. One of the biggest changes was the introduction of the stress test in January 2018, which turned the mortgage industry upside down. Many people who could previously afford a home no longer qualify for one.

To help my clients overcome these challenges, I rely on my experience and creativity to structure a mortgage application. As a fully-fledged brokerage, I am connected to fifty-seven lenders, and it allows me to negotiate the best rates for my clients.

I also organize the refinancing of properties for clients, which releases equity and solves cash flow problems in times of uncertainty. Another factor that makes my brokerage successful is that my team speaks six languages, which assists in communicating with clients.

One of the most rewarding parts of running my company is creating outcomes that allow families to stay together. It makes my job feel more like a labor of love than a business.

My philosophy is simple and consists of the three core values of commitment, trust, and solution. I am committed to functioning in a way that delivers customized offerings and builds clients trust.

When I’m away from the office, I play badminton, go to the gym, sing, dance, golf a bit and I’m a connoisseur of single malt whiskey. I also like to read books on how we, as a society, can collectively alleviate poverty by reducing food waste and by carving out a circular economy.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
